Everyone is different and you will experience unique sensations and feelings, depending on your body and what’s going on for you. However, there are some common sensations worth noting, such as:
- Feeling very warm or very cold
- Tingling or ‘buzzing’
- Breathing variations
- Coughing
- Swallowing more frequently
- Rapid eye movement and blinking
- Movement of the face and body (jerking or twitching)
- Frowning or smiling
- Feeling very sleepy or close to sleep
Most commonly, you will feel a peaceful and relaxing sensation throughout the whole session.
Besides the immediate effects after experiencing Reiki, you may notice some other changes after the session: emotion coming up, crying or laughing, improved digestion, clarity of the mind, feeling a general sense of peace, enjoying a restful night of sleep.
Sometimes in your first session, you’re not sure what happened or if anything happened, or it didn’t ‘work’ for you. Reiki is a cumulative therapy, and the more times you try it, the deeper experiences you have.
